This once suburban subsection of northern Flushing is now a rapidly growing urban community with easy access into Manhattan along the LIRR Port Washington line. Not to be confused with the neighborhood in the mid-eastern section of this borough, Murray Hill, Queens has a demographic mix of older European immigrants with a rising population of Asian Americans and Central Americans. Northern Boulevard is booming with commercial development catering to the Korean community. A Meokjagolmok (restaurant street) has sprung up close to the LIRR stop amongst the varied low and mid-rise housing stock. This consists of more multi-family units and small apartment building, many in brick with various distinctive balcony configurations. North of Northern Boulevard the suburban character still remains and one can find many unique single-family structures such as the ones featured here in lighter materials, colors and unusual window patterns.
